These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LexiScene browser extension and website (the "Service"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/EEA) to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
LexiScene is a browser extension that overlays language-learning tools (dual subtitles, dictionary lookup, vocabulary list management, daily challenges, etc.) on supported streaming services and websites. The Service reads subtitles already displayed by these services; it does not modify, redistribute, or store the video or audio content of those services.
The Service is provided “as is” and may be modified, updated, suspended, or discontinued without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
An account is only required to use Premium features or to enable cross-device synchronization of your word list. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
The Premium plan is offered at US$4.99 per month, billed in advance through our payment processor (Stripe). Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which will be added at checkout where required by law.
Premium subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until canceled. You authorize us to charge your selected payment method for each renewal.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Premium access until then.
All payments are non-refundable. We do not provide partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period.
We may adjust pricing for the Premium plan. Any price change will be announced at least 30 days in advance and will take effect at your next renewal.

The Service is designed to be used alongside third-party platforms such as Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and policies. LexiScene is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these services. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and trademarks, is the property of LexiScene and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
Your saved word list and any content you create within the Service remain yours; you grant us a limited license to process such content solely to provide the Service to you.
Dictionary entries, examples, and translations may be generated by AI language models. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may occasionally be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. Do not rely on the Service for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LEXISCENE AND ITS OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR US$50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe causes harm to us, other users, or third parties. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and (if applicable) canceling your subscription.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the extension or website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Tokyo, Japan, except where applicable consumer law in your jurisdiction grants you additional rights.
